The 2002 season comes to a close, as Severna Park went down swinging Friday night, and suffered a heartbreaking loss which put an end to their playoff streak. This was a game where the scoreboard doesn't well represent the awesome effort put forth by the team. Falcons held tight and hung tough, led by senior Jeff Hoffman, who rushed for 156 yards in an all out bring-the-house effort against the Panthers. Hoffman earned a lot of respect this season, with a rushing total of 1365 yards, and 9 touchdowns to his credit. Falcons were behind 14-0 at halftime, and climbed right back in the game with a 70 yard scoring drive, which was topped with a 26 yard touchdown pass from David Horn to Tommy Zichelli. Senior QB David Horn also had a great season completing 44 passes for 784 yards, with a state record breaking 99 yard TD pass earlier this year, also received by Tommy. Defense stepped up as the Panthers regained control of the ball, with a stop short effort by Chris Choe, Matt Lacher, Sean DiBlasi, Ryan Budka, Alex Kin, Jason Butler, and Andrew Ferris.  Andrew led the team in tackles this season with a hard hitting 98 for the year. Severna Park was looking to even the scoreboard, and came barreling back with an offensive 80 yard drive that put the Falcons within a yard of scoring. On fourth down, it was the longest yard of all, and Falcons turned over the ball to the hungry Panthers. Matt Lacher and Rob Dooley both stepped up in the final drive, but it was not enough to clench the win. Annapolis ended up the victor, and also went on to the next round in the playoffs with a 27-7 win. The Fabulous Falcons finished overall holding their heads high for a job well done- We'll be looking forward to seeing a lot of these players back on the field next year. A special thank you to our team moms and parents who help behind the scenes to make our season a success- and a sad farewell to our team mom extraordinaire Sarah Hoffman, who will be greatly missed next year! To all our Falcon Fans, Supporters and the Athletic Boosters, Thank You! A Special Farewell to our Class of '02 Seniors... WE hope to see you back in the stands next year!
