The 2005 County Champions were back on their home turf in the season opener this Friday with something to prove. Calvert Hall dealt the Falcons their only loss last season, and Park returned the favor this year surprising many with a win over the powerhouse Cardinals. The stands were filled with fans and defense rose to the occasion with awesome efforts by Tambua Bradford, Joe Farell, Dave Nematollahi, Sean Price, and Mark Hepburn. The Falcons held the Cardinals to only a 16 yd FG in the first half. The only Calvert Hall score was a Falcon fumble in the end zone. Offensively, junior QB Pat Morrison had an impressive debut at the helm, going 4-for-6 and passing for 42 yards. Senior Brent Sanders rushed for 47 yards had a crucial interception also scoring a 14yd TD. Porter Johnson led the rushing game with 52 yards, and Kavante Harried had 4 carries for 33 yards. All this rushing was made possible by the awesome O-Line: Zach Feldmann at anchor, flankered by Matt Deleonibus, and Brooks Chalmers. Pat O'Keefe returning from a broken leg last season, and Steve DiMilio held tough and protected the corners well. New to football this year, and crucial to the game was kicker Pat Bateman, tying the game early with a 27 yard FG and putting it away with the extra point that turned into the game winner. The Falcons keep rolling and take to the road next week to South River... come out and show your support on their journey to Raven's stadium in 2006!
