How sweet it is! The Falcons proved everyone wrong, ending the rival streak by knocking a little shine off the visiting Panthers. Holding them to a scoreless game, defense and special teams stepped up again to give the Falcons that extra push they needed to add another W to the scorecard this season. First half proved to be a battle of the wills with defense hanging tough and some hard hits and big plays by Ryan Medeiros, Norman Gee, Sean DiBlasi, Lee McFarland, Dave Reim, Tim Hackmann and Rob Dooley. Alex Kin had two sacks and two fumble recoveries- one of which proved to be the break the Falcons needed to get on the board when Kin recovered one on the 6 yard line in the second half. Andrew Ferris stuffed it in for a 3 yard touchdown, and Zichelli was on target for all 3 extra point attempts. Annapolis struck back and defense kicked it up a notch with some intensity from Dave Sells and Joey Lehner. With a 4th down and 1:16 to go in the third quarter, Dean Samuel aced an interception and Marques Johnson carried the ball and the Falcons into the 4th quarter. Ryan Budka gained some yards with a series of in your face runs all over Annapolis. With 4th down and 2:41 remaining, Severna Park broke the mold with Ryan Willey completing a gutsy 26 yard touchdown pass to Tommy Zichelli. The final touchdown came with another fumble from Annapolis QB Larry Beavers, which was snatched by Alex Kin on the 1 yard line, and snuck in with a QB keep by Willey proving that indeed the Falcons are a Force to be reckoned with. Park does it again on Monday, September 29 at Northeast - 4:00 pm. Come cheer them on!
